AGATHA Our Camponotus aeneopilosus Queen.
We were lucky enough to catch one single Camponotus aeneopilosus queen last season.
These are large active carpenter ants that are quite common in Australia but can be hard to find.
With just one queen our hopes of raising her successfully were low. But last week AGATHA welcomed her first nanitics.
We'll be moving her into a starter formicarium shortly to aid in feeding.
We'll keep you guys updated of her progress.
In part 2 we are looking at the various food options within each food group.
In the first part of this two part series we take a look at ant food.
In Part 3 we take a look at identifying the species.
